Mantanani island, that this thin island has never been commercialized, secures its hidden secrets from great number of divers and thus giving you a private but full enjoyment to the tropical island. One of the main reasons that Mantanani Islands is popular for local and tourists alike is because of its picturesque scenery, cool breezes and serene environment.

For those who love to watch these unique primate not found elsewhere in the world is a “Must See”. It would definitely gives you one of the most exhilarating and memorable experience observing the Proboscis monkeys both young and adult leaping from tree to tree and eventually down to feed on young leaves and plants. The leaping act is superb, fast, steady, stylish and perfect. Proboscis monkeys survive mainly on a diet of leaves, seeds, and unripe fruits but will occasionally consume insects as well.  As well experiencing a night cruise with glows of fireflies lighting up the trees.

 

Expecting mother, Elderly

- Due to the unpredictable rough sea conditions, expecting mothers (especially during the early stage of pregnancy) is not suitable to join this tour.
- Please notify us upon booking if any pregnant guest would like to go.
- The road to Kota Belud jetty from KK is very hilly and curvy, the guest were not used to the elevation and winding roads might get dizzy.

Precautions

This tour might be cancelled due to bad weather condition especially in Monsoon Season (November ~ January, and June), the tour company will inform you if the trip has been cancelled by early morning before 7:00 am on traveling day. If so, you may contact us for immediate arrangement of other trips or simply tell us to postpone this tour to next available day.

Sometime the weather is fair and the tour keep going, there might be rough sea condition and choppy water, you probably will not feel comfortable. If the weather is not getting better, only ONE session of snorkeling will be conducted and will leave the island earlier than usual for safety reason. No refund will be given for any part of the services after commencement of tour.

Itinerary

    Pickup at hotel and proceed to Kota Belud Jetty.

    Arrive Rampayan Jetty.

  • 3

    Depart for Mantanani Island.

  • 4

    Arrive to Mantanani Island, then start snorkeling.

  • 5

    Back to Mantanani Island for lunch.

  • 6

    Swim or snorkel at house reef.

  • 7

    Departing to jetty.

  • 8

    Upon arrival at the jetty, guests will transfer by car to another fireflies camp base.

    Coffee and tea will then be served with homemade cakes.

    Boat cruise start in search of proboscis monkey or wildlife animals.

    Enjoy sumptuous buffet dinner.

    Boat cruise to watch fireflies slowly lighting up and decorating the mangrove trees. Listen to the crickets singing.

    Back to jetty and Depart for Kota Kinabalu.

    Arrive Kota Kinabalu and transfer back to hotel.

Warm Remind

  • Please bring your own towel, or you may rent towel from staff (MYR30 / pcs).
  • Recommend to bring: extra pocket money, insect repellent, sun-block lotion, change of clothes, towel, cap/hat, slipper, camera, sun glasses, binocular.
  • Age limit of snorkeling activity for child is 5 years old and above.
  • You might get WET during the boat journey, so please be sure to pack and stow your belongings properly during the journey. Dry bags or raincoat for waterproofing are recommended.
  • In the event of ’no show’ or ’last minutes cancellation’ on 1 day prior the tour date, 100% cancellation fee will be imposed by tour company.
  • It will have surcharge MYR 30/pax for pickup location in Kinarut area (eg. Beringgis Beach Resort, Kinabalu Villas), MYR 20/pax for Putatan Area (Hotel No5, Lintas Area, Lido Avenue, Lido Four Season, Platinum, Pan Borneo) & Kepayan Area.
  • For option of No Land Transfer Services, final location will be confirmed one day prior. Please note this is a different jetty from the island and river cruise activities.

How to Pay

Pay on travelling day

No advance payment is required, simply pay cash in Ringgit-Malaysia to tour guide. However, you still need pay in full for any cancellation made 1 day prior to tour date.

  • Cancellation & Refund Policy:  (1.) No refund for any cancellation made within 2 days from the tour date, 90% of full payment will be refunded if cancel 3 days and above. (2.) Firefly Tour will still proceed in the event of rain if there are no cancellation mentioned. Guest that choose to not participate in the tour will be assumed as NO SHOW. (3.) In the event of NO SHOW , there will be no refund for guest. (4.) If the tour is cancelled by operation team due to unforeseen circumstances before the tour proceeds , guest will be refunded the tour fee. (5.) Tour fee will not be refunded once the tour is proceeding. (6.) Operation team reserves the right to cancel or postpone the tours if weather conditions do not permit for the safety and comfort of the guest. (7.) In an event of adverse weather, boatman has the right to cancel and return to Jetty for the safety of all passengers. No refund will be given on this.

  • Tour Type: Sit-In-Coach basis (SIC). This tour is not private tour, you will share the trip with other guests come from different countries. Please notify us upon booking if you are looking for private tour, surcharge might be applied.

  • Insurance: Tourist transportation insurance included. Please contact your insurance agency for personal travel insurance.

  • Pickup Service:  Pickup service will be provided from the hotel/hostel/lodge that you are staying. Please wait at lobby while the tour guide will find you when he/she arrive. Dropoff service will be provided after travelling, please notify us upon booking if your dropoff location is differ from pickup location.

  • Specialities: You may decide the joining date, no compulsory tips (If you are happy and satisfied with the journey and the tour guide service, it's always a nice way to express your appreciation with tipping, OR words of thanks is good enough).
