Description

Welcome to an adventure that combines Mountain Hiking and Discovery Scuba Diving!

Tun Sakaran Marine Park, the largest marine park in Sabah, encompasses eight islands and is renowned for its diverse marine life, boasting hundreds of coral species and fish varieties. These islands are also home to rare birds and exquisite plants. Let me introduce you to the three incredible destinations you're about to explore!

First up, hiking - Bohey Dulang!

The name derives from "bohi" (bohey), meaning water, and "dulang," meaning pools in the Bajau language (The Bajau, also known as the Sea Gypsy, is a nomadic ethnic group indigenous to the Southeast Asian region). The shoreline waters are as clear as mint, while the deeper expanses exhibit stunning shades of blue. The stark contrast between the seas is striking and invigorating. From the island's highest point, the panoramic view of Tun Sakaran Marine Park is breathtaking. Bohey Dulang stands alone as the sole climbable island in the archipelago, boasting unparalleled charm. Ascending to the summit, which is 700 meters up and 600 meters down, typically takes approximately 30-45 minutes. The journey unfolds amidst pristine and untouched scenery, with paths primarily composed of stone, sand, or tree roots, occasionally marked by staircases. But the view from the top makes every step worthwhile!

Next, Discovery Scuba Diving (DSD) - Mantabuan Island and Sibuan Island!

Mantabuan Island, believed to have formed from pyroclastic material, which was ejected during explosive volcanic activity. Although Mantabuan Island is relatively petite, but its untouched natural environment, high visibility of the underwater world, abundant marine life, and serene ambiance make it a standout feature. Notably, it is one of the premier islands in the area for observing manta rays. There are just 22 metres of water where you can find the Black Coral Garden, a rare and valuable coral. Large table coral and pristine soft coral are also present across the island in addition to the black coral. Many marine species, such as thousands of reef fish, painted lobster, blue-spotted ribbon rays, and countless nudibranches, find refuge in the shallow waters among massive coral rocks. On the other side, dive locations located further to the island's north and west are excellent for searching for a variety of smaller creatures, including turtles and barracudas.

Sibuan is a great place for conducting Open Water Courses at, as the calm conditions and sandy bottoms make it ideal for beginning divers. But don’t think Sibuan is only for new divers, this is a macro divers' paradise and truly one of our favorite islands. Divers can glimpse the elusive Pygmy Seahorse in 30-meter depths, as well as the captivating frogfish that can walk with its legs. Nudibranchs are found by the dozen, as are crocodile fish, lion fish, and scorpion fish. With a combination of shallow plateaus and steep slopes, the island is a regular stop over during open water diver courses and experienced diver programs.
