Description

Timbun Mata Island is the largest island on the south side of Darvel Bay, in Semporna, Sabah, Malaysia. It is over 26 kilometres long and at the widest is almost 10 kilometres wide. The island is mountainous and was formerly (pre-2000) densely wooded. Mt. Tannabalu, the highest point at 620 m., is a conical, extinct volcano located at the centre of the island. A secondary peak, Mt. Sedungal, at the east end of the island rises to 489 m. The south side of the island is only separated from the mainland by a shallow channel known as the Trusan Sigalong. It is located at 4°39' N 118°25' E with an area of 114.97 km². 

The island has been inhabited since before records were kept. There are several villages on the island which have been there for at least several hundred years, Mantandak (in the west), Lakai Lakai (north), Dap Dap (northeast) and Kubor (east). In addition there are newer, illegal settlements which have sprung up on the southeastern portion of the island.

The island was declared a forest reserve in 1930, but had been planted in teak as early as the 1880s. The teak forests have been periodically surveyed, but inroads by illegal logging and land clearing has reduced them.

  • Each guest is entitled to participate in each watersport activity once. There is no unlimited participation.
  • Snorkeling is not available in Love Bay Island.
  • No hotel pickup service is provided, please arrange your own transport to the meeting point..
  • Afternoon Session starts at 1:15 pm till 6:00 pm
  • Kindly arrive at the jetty before 8:15 am (Morning Session) and before 1:15 pm for Afternoon Session.
  • Recommend to bring: hiking shoes, extra pocket money, insect repellent, sun-block lotion, change of clothes, towel, cap/hat, slipper.

No advance payment is required, simply pay cash in Ringgit-Malaysia to tour guide. However, you still need pay in full for any cancellation made 1 day prior to tour date.

Tour location / Depart from: Tawau (Semporna) . To reach Tawau city, you have to take a domestic flight or bus express from Kota Kinabalu or Sandakan. There are direct flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport too.

Cancellation & Refund Policy:  (1.) No refund for any cancellation made within 2 days from the tour date, 90% of full payment will be refunded if cancel 3 days and above. (2.) In an event of adverse weather, boatman has the right to cancel and return to Jetty for the safety of all passengers. No refund will be given on this. (3.) Any changes or cancellations due to weather or other force majeure, the operation team maintains the right to change routes, timings, and itinerary reserves if conditions beyond their control require it. (4.) No refund will be given in the event of guest "No Show". (5.) Tour fee will not be refunded once the tour is proceeding. (6.) Guest that decide to cancel their tour in the event of rain , even after confirming that the tour is able to proceed will not be refunded the tour fee. (7.) Only final cancellation made by the operation team before the tour commence is able to be refund the tour fee.
