Welcome to the Heart Maze & Mari Mari Cultural Village!
Nestled in Penampang, Sabah, the Love Maze, or Heart Maze might look small in pictures, but it’s actually one of the world’s largest heart-shaped mazes! With six attractions to explore, the entire adventure, including photo ops, takes less than 30 minutes. The restaurant, boasting modern industrial decor and air conditioning, is a perfect spot to relax.
After the maze, we’ll head to our next destination—the Mari Mari Cultural Village!
Here, at the Dusun House, you’ll see traditional building materials and tools used by the indigenous people, like grass mats, bamboo baskets, and ceramics. Step out the back door and you’ll enter a hut dedicated to cooking Linapak (bamboo dishes) and Montoku (distilling rice wine).
In the Rungus Longhouse, learn to start a fire without matches or a lighter, and in the Lundayeh House, discover how bark is transformed into ropes, vests, floors, and walls. Over at the Bajau House, watch the locals make Kuih Jala (net cakes) and Pandan juice.
At the Murut Longhouse, belonging to the headhunter tribe, the chief will welcome you with a traditional ceremony. Watch demonstrations of blowpipe making and feel the excitement of the Lansaran, a traditional trampoline-like floor! At some corners, you will see demonstration on local cigarette making and witness the locals as they tattoo their bodies the old method. You can also get a temporary body tattoo the ancient way if you wish.
No visit to the cultural village is complete without enjoying traditional dances and the bamboo dance! The graceful moves of the indigenous dancers are simply captivating. Don’t forget to stop by the souvenir shop for colorful jewelry and unique decorations to take home.
This journey not only lets you explore the romantic Heart Maze but also gives you a deep dive into the lives of five indigenous tribes. The interactive experiences are endlessly enjoyable! Isn’t it just incredibly enticing?

Pay on travelling day
No advance payment is required, simply pay cash in Ringgit-Malaysia to tour guide. However, you still need pay in full for any cancellation made 1 day prior to tour date.
